It all depends on the circumstances of the death and your relationship to Mickey Dad no matter what life throws at you at least you dont have an ugly daughter shirtr and everyone responds to death differently. My father died 2/7/2016 and was buried on Valentine’s Day. To this day I have never mourned his death. If I state those facts in just that way, it may seem that I am a heartless son. But let me put it into context for you. I had uprooted my life in August, 2015 to move back in with my aged parents because they were told they had to get someone to help out or go into a nursing home. Since I am divorced and my ex has majority custody I was the ONLY option in the immediate family to take the role that would have otherwise cost my family $7000 a month and forced them out of their home. I shut up my house 160 miles away and moved immediately but had only been in the home for a few weeks when Dad had several strokes. These strokes put him into the hospital and then into a nursing home. He was 88 at the time and turned 89 in the nursing home. He had both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease and his condition quickly became much worse. He developed severe dysphagia and was having trouble taking any sort of food and became very weak. He had a Living Will. The decision was soon going to have to be made whether to feed him through other means.

If your mom is screaming and crying at night it might be because she and your father are having fights especially since you say he is “never there in the mornings”. I assume he goes to work in the daytime? And if he told you or your mother told you that he went to get cigarettes and never returned then it is possible that he has left for good. Tell your mother that you want her to tell you the truth about where your father went and if he will ever come back. The fact that you have not heard from or seen him strongly suggests that he might have left for good. If this is the case, I am sorry for you and your mom, but help is available in your school, church or community. Do not be afraid to talk to a school councillor or an aunt or uncle. Good luck. My mother had been married to him for 68 years and was going to have difficulty making that decision. He was miserable in the nursing home and his quality of life was poor. I took mom to see dad every day from the day he went into the hospital to the day before he died except for four days when the weather was too poor to drive. I saw how unhappy he was and how his condition was just never going to get better. I took the call the day he died. Other than seeing the pain in my mother I never saw his death as anything but a blessing and he died peacefully in his sleep. I do not mourn his death yet but celebrate his life and pass on his legacy as a good man to my children. There are many things in life much worse than death.
