So You Think You Can Dance was her first Lady Gaga Born This Way Motorcycle shirt. The first seconds let you know something different is going to happen. An hybrid person is born, an artist with a concept : technology, fashion, choreography. To me, she was not only a new Madonna. That’s right, she played with divas’ code and provocation but Madonna did not invent this strategy. Pop industry is really a mess basically led by profit. For Stefani Germanotta (her real name), Lady Gaga was the opportunity to make a career. And she was so right that every single pop star change her way to perform. Katy Perry started to put some candies on her head using fanciful wigs. Nicki Minaj signed to be the black Barbie… Lady Gaga has really changed pop music industry. I think Gaga is also popular because of her evolutions. Each album “era” brings a new aspect of the artist, every time more mature. Through all her songs, Gaga has given to us some clues about her life, her struggles, her values… The fan base is able to share something really strong with its idole. Moreover, Gaga has no limits! This is so inspiring. The all world is ours, there are no limits but only opportunities. We have also seen Lady Gaga blossom these last 2 years. She is definitely a true and free artist. She decides to say NO to people who just want to use her as a moneymaking machine and chooses her projects. Her Jazz album with Tony Bennett won lots of rewards, she was elected Woman of the year by Billboard and she plays in famous series. To me, Stefani is a great entrepreneur and an example.

I will answer this one without buying myself a bag of conspiracy theories as some individuals did before me. Peoples taste in music shifts constantly. And the artist as such – Lady Gaga in this case – has made decisions to just go in a different direction. For some odd reasons some fans love their stars to stay the same while other want constant changes. It seems she has caught the “please stay the same” fans. But then that is just a stupid assertion on my side. Fan bases are legitimately stupid sometimes and unpredictable. The thing is that I kinda believe she knew her game too well and what she wants to do. Fans can be thrown off so easy. There is a reason why she had her album called “The Fame” and in conjunction she released “The Fame Monster”. Then came “Born This Way”, riding the exact same formula as her previous releases. And her fans kinda believed she will do that forever? She then released “Artpop”. The overall style of music was still highly energetic, yet the fans were a bit boring and the media press is always at helm that if something changes to spread the news the fans need. It helps fans either to manifest their fandom or to drop it. The media decided it is “drop it” session. And so did the fans.
