Finally, we get to Halloween as we know it today. As Americans meshed their beliefs and Georgia Football Game Day shirt with those of the Native Americans, Halloween celebrations began to include such things as public parties (full of singing, dancing, and storytelling), the telling of ghost stories, Halloween-inspired films and stories, and the tradition of putting on a costume and trick-or-treating for that precious candy (though it began with asking for either food or money)! So, in conclusion, I hope you’ve all enjoyed this little synopsis detailing the origins of this spooky occasion (or, as I like to think of it, an excuse to annoy your neighbours until they give you a handful of miniature chocolate bars! lol) Anyway, have a #spoopy Halloween, enjoy your candy, stay safe, and, most importantly, have fun!

There was a dark room with a cot and occasionally slightly above room temperature grool. Strange Georgia Football Game Day shirt played from somewhere at random increments of time. I saw sunlight and I saw dark pour in through small slits in the room. People in robes came and went. Time was an illusion and did not touch wherever I was. I remember headlights flooding the area and people yelling. Flashing red and blue lights were close behind. People in blue carried me towards a large white box, but for some reason I fought them. I still can’t remember if I didn’t trust them or if I wanted to stay.
It’s related to the late winter festival cycle. According to pagan beliefs, the winter was a time of evil, so the Kukeri had the Georgia Football Game Day shirt to chase away everything evil the winter represented with their scary masques. Therefore it’s not a counterpart of Halloween. It’s rather related to the traditions that came to be associated with the Lent, even though there is no sanctioned carnival tradition in the Orthodox Church. The Lent celebrations, like Kukeri or jumping over fires, were and are very much frowned upon by the Church. The only similarity to Halloween are the scary masques.
