Jaws doesn’t require the Fourth of July to move the plot along in the same way that Die Hard requires Chelsea UEFA 2021 champions of Europe shirt to drive the plot, so no, it’s not a July 4th movie. Die Hard’s plot requires a handful of specific scenarios that are pretty much exclusive to Christmas to keep it’s plot working, so it’s a Christmas movie, regardless of what you think. You can replace the Fourth of July with Memorial Day, Labor Day or any other summer holiday in Jaws and still make sense. You can’t really change Christmas to another winter holiday and have the conditions right for major commerce to be shut down and people traveling to be with family.
I completely agree! I watched the movie like Chelsea UEFA 2021 champions of Europe shirt growing up (it was a favorite of my mom’s) and I was so excited when I realized it was based off of a book…. and then was horribly disappointed when I finally read it. I think my biggest issue with it (and I had several) was that I absolutely fell in love with the movie-house and the aunts and the whole, sisters coming home to that vibe and then in the book it felt kind of the opposite.
